OUR PHILOSOPHY ON GIVING BACK

We at Sanders & Parks believe that giving to the community is as important as our legal service. Our employees and attorneys give back in a host of ways, including pro bono representation of charitable organizations, donations of service as Board members for some of the most worthy charities in the State, and financial and material donations

SANDERS & PARKS SUPPORTS THE VALLEY OF THE SUN UNITED WAY

The United Way is one of the oldest and most important charitable organizations here in The Valley, providing key support to Arizona families since 1925. The United Way mission areas include efforts to give Arizona's youth every possibility of succeeding in any life endeavor, ending hunger, ending homelessness, and ensuring that lower income families are able to maintain financial stability. Through a fund drive involving giving in 2012 and payroll deductions in 2013, Sanders & Parks will generate over $6,000 in donations. Sanders & Parks is proud to partner with such a truly worthy cause.

SANDERS & PARKS SUPPORTS ST. MARY'S FOOD BANK HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE

As it does nearly every year, Sanders & Parks again collected and donated four large donation boxes of food, along with a cash donation, to the St. Mary's Food Bank at its most critical time of year.

ARIZONA HIGH SCHOOL MOCK TRIAL

Participating students are given a hypothetical case with extensive documentary evidence and witness affidavits. Over the next four months, the students develop trial strategies and carefully prepare for the competition. Under the tutelage of Attorney Coach J. Steven Sparks, the team members create thoughtful and persuasive opening statements, closing arguments, and direct and cross-examinations. Mr. Sparks works very closely with the students to ensure that they are thoroughly prepared, well organized, and intimately familiar with the Rules of Evidence and courtroom decorum. Each team member is required to serve as both an attorney and a witness and is expected to appear as realistic and credible as possible.

On the day of the Mock Trial tournament, each team participates in at least four trials. The trials are authentic in the sense that they take place in real courtrooms, with real judges and real time constraints. Team members must give poised performances and must make spontaneous tactical decisions, including objections based on hearsay, relevance, foundation and the entire Rules of Evidence.

Sanders & Parks and Attorney Coach J. Steven Sparks are proud to announce that Brophy Mock Trial has consistently placed among the best teams in the State. In 2012, Brophy finished second at the State Tournament. But success in Mock Trial cannot be measured by tournament results alone. The real success stories are the outstanding young students that join Mock Trial with little public speaking experience and a basic lack of confidence, but leave the program with closing arguments that would make Clarence Darrow proud. Sanders & Parks attorney J. Steven Sparks is proud to have been associated with Brophy Mock Trial since 2003.
