Mr. Bhatheja concentrates his practice in civil litigation.  He has represented corporate, municipal, insurance and individual clients in business, employment, and personal injury disputes. Mr. Bhatheja's work includes commercial disputes (breach of contract, tortious interference with contract, fraud, racketeering), Title VII and Arizona Civil Rights Act claims (including EEOC administrative charges of discrimination, retaliation and harassment), bodily injury and property damage claims, FINRA (f/k/a NASD) litigation (broker-dealer disputes and consumer complaints), and intellectual property disputes.

Mr. Bhatheja has substantial jury and bench trial experience in Maricopa and Santa Cruz County, Arizona, and Dane County, Wisconsin. He has successfully counseled clients on how to avoid disputes and also how to resolve them once they arise. He has represented clients from small businesses in consumer complaints to multinational companies in insurance coverage, insurance defense and municipalities in employment and personal injury disputes. Some of Mr. Bhatheja's representative matters include:

  • Represented a municipality in Title VII claims for race discrimination and retaliation (Judgment in favor of defendant on all claims).
  • Represented network marketing company and their insurer in defamation and false light claims by an independent marketing executive against the company. (Judgment in favor of defendant on all claims.)
  • Represented national investment broker/dealer in FINRA proceeding where investors alleged their financial advisor made unsuitable investment recommendations (Favorable resolution prior to trial).
  • Represented defendant, a private telecommunications company, in a dispute with a competitor that involved breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and unfair competition. (Favorable resolution prior to trial).
  • Represented defendant, real estate holding company in breach of contract action alleging non-payment of commissions to real estate broker, unjust enrichment, and fraud. (Favorable resolution prior to trial).
  • Represented regional courier company related to series of EEOC charges for racial discrimination, retaliation and harassment.
  • Represented municipality in Title VII and Arizona Civil Rights Act claims for retaliation and harassment involving public employee (Favorable resolution prior to trial).
  • Represents professionals in employment contract negotiations and litigation of non-competition agreements in disputes that turn on whether the restrictive covenants in the agreements are reasonable in scope.
  • Represents employers in wage complaints asserted by employees under A.R.S. § 23-355.
  • Represents employers in wage and hour claims, including alleged violation of Fair Labor Standards Act ("FLSA").
  • Represented defendant, a Financial Advisor in a customer dispute in which the customer alleged non-suitable investment recommendations, fraud and breach of fiduciary duty. (Defense verdict after 4-day FINRA/NASD arbitration.)
  • Represents property owners and tenants in commercial and residential landlord-tenant disputes, including forcible entry and detainer actions (i.e., eviction), commercial lock-outs and lease negotiations.
  • Represents property owners and lenders and provides counsel regarding provisions of Arizona's residential and commercial real estate laws, including anti-deficiency provisions, and foreclosure or trustee's sales resulting from default on mortgages and/or deeds of trust.
  • Represented plaintiff, a farmer in a breach of contract action against a customer for non-payment (Verdict for plaintiff at the close of arbitration).


Mr. Bhatheja also has experience in transactional matters, including drafting and negotiating commercial leases, purchase agreements and establishing corporate entities.

Anoop Bhatheja earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin in 2003 where he was a Managing Editor of the Wisconsin International Law Journal and an elected member of the Student Bar Association. During law school, Mr. Bhatheja was awarded the Abe Sigman law prize for his scholarship and service related to the Consumer Law Litigation Clinic. He also served as an intern for the Hon. Robert DeChambeau of the Dane County Circuit Court in 2002. Mr. Bhatheja graduated magna cum laude and earned his bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of Arizona in 2000.
